PAGADIAN CITY: The Provincial Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) has drawn attention to prepare for super
typhoon Ruby (Hagupit).
PDRRMC officer Wilfredo Asoy Jr. called all mayors
and their MDRRMC officers to be watchful for the super typhoon, which is now
gaining strength with very strong winds of up to 215 kilometers per hour and
gustiness of up to 250 kph.
PAGASA said Ruby was last spotted around 450
kilometers east of Guiuan.
Zamboanga del Sur, along with the two Misamis
provinces, is placed at Alert Level C, according to PAGASA.
Provinces with Alert Level C, added PAGASA, have an
estimated rain of 10-20 meters per hour (from heavy to intense) with winds
somewhere between 95-110 kph.
Asoy reported that search and rescue teams are ready
to respond and stand-by vehicles ready for dispatch should typhoon Ruby strike anytime
this weekend.
Meanwhile, VM Divina Grace Yu, assembled the CDRRMC yesterday
afternoon to thresh out contingency plans.
CDRRMC officer Haron Damada said the council would
monitor coastal villages, the flood prone areas and those lying at the front of
landslides.
Damada advised coastal residents to “prepare and
pack desired things for possible evacuation,” as he called on the Barangay
Emergency Response Team and Incident Command System for activation.
City PNP Director Supt. Glenn Dulawan said he is ready
to provide personnel to help CDRRMC in keeping an eye on the typhoon. (WITH
