PAGADIAN
CITY: For the bad news, total number of crimes in this city increased.
Whether
to treat this as either good or bad, crime solution also increased more
than 100 percent compared to last year in the same period, police said.
City
PNP chief of P/Supt. Glenn Dulawan said crime volume from January November 30, this
year tallied 2,274, higher than last year’s 1,338.
Dulawan
said crime volume increase is experienced nationwide during August because of the
change of system entry of reported incidents in PNP blotters as well as those for
record purposes only.
Dulawan
said current index crime is 1,112 from 740 last year while non-index crimes registered
at 1,162 from 598 last year.
Index
crimes are crime offenses such as willful homicide, rape, robbery, burglary,
aggravated assault, larceny, motor vehicle theft, and arson. All other offenses
are considered to be non-index crimes.
The
PNP said Pagadian has an average monthly crime rate of 91 percent this year, a quite
complicated calculation.
With
the increase of crime volume, the city PNP has also increased their actions for
the same period, said Dulawan.
Homicide
cases went up to 11 this year; murder at 67; rape is 37; robbery at 179; theft posted
271 and cattle rustling remained at 2.
Only
carnapping decreased to 54 from 60.
Dulawan
added that most crimes were committed during rush hours in the morning and
afternoon as he pointed out that the city is generally peaceful and normal
although irregularly, isolated and essentially manageable crimes persist.
The
city’s population is growing, which is a factor of crime growth, said Dulawan.
As
to illegal drugs trafficking, this was reduced due to the aggressive
operational and holistic approach, the PNP chef said.
Pagadian
is also insurgent-free and no insurgency problems were ever recorded in the PNP
office file.(WITH REPORTS FROM JONG CADION)
