BIFF disowns Maramag bus bombing

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: The breakaway Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) has denied any role in the bomb explosion inside a bus in Maramag, Bukidnon, the other day, a new report by DxRU-Radio Ultra said.

In an interview over DxRU, Abu Misri Mama, speaking for the BIFF, said the allegations pointing at their group for the death of 10 passengers and wounding of 43 others is a “barefaced lie.”

Mama, according to the radio interview, said they are not terrorist attackers who used particular bombs and that the one used in the bombing is not even in their weapon store.

Still from DxRU-Radio Ultra, quoting a PNP report, it said that an 81mm mortar improvised explosive device may have been used.

“Wala’y pagduha-duha nga gipunting ni Mama ang AFP nga mao, matod pa, ang nagpaluyo sa maong pagpamomba, ug hugtanon niyang giklaro nga ang kasundaluhan mao ang terorista sa nasod,” DxRU said in its afternoon report.

Mama cited as an example a bombing in August, last year, wherein a military truck full of soldiers were hurt in Shariff Saydona, Mustapha in Maguindanao when an improvised explosive device went off.

An ABS-CBN report then has quoted the BIFF claiming responsibility for the bombing, saying the military is their enemies.

We don’t attack civilians, only military. Mama was quoted in another report as he added that BIFF is likewise conducting its own investigation.
