PAGADIAN CITY: The DTI here has stepped up its
campaign against the sale of sub-standard Christmas lights.
Ma. Socorro Atay, DTI-Zamboanga del Sur director,
said their enforcement team is going around the province inspecting stores to make
certain Christmas lights being sold are of good quality.
Atay wants to ensure protection of the consumers
from unfortunate incidents like fire which comes from the use of sub-standard
Christmas lights.
The DTI official advised the public to refrain from
buying “Mabuhay Star,” “Ako,” and “Lucky Deer” as these are uncertified
Christmas lights.
She said the DTI has also suspended the Import
Commodity Clearance (ICC) of “Great Circles Trading” and “Highest Regard
Enterprises.”
She asked retailers to only sell certified
decorations particularly Christmas lights and advised consumers to buy those certified
brands of Christmas lights and to look for the ICC and BPS markings.
