Dipolog City:
A joint resolution by the military, police and local officials improved Zamboanga
del Norte’s image as “Conflict-Manageable and Development-Ready (CMMR).”
The
signing was held last Dec. 11 led by 1st Infantry Tabak Division Commander,
BGen. Gerardo Barrientos Jr., Westmincom chief Lt. Gen. Rustico Guerrero, PNP-9
reg. dir. C/Supt. Edgar O. Basbas, and Gov. Roberto Y. Uy.
Mayor
Evelyn Uy, PNP provincial director, S/Supt. Juanito Enguerra and other
provincial, city and municipal officials also came to witness the event, with other
AFP and PNP members.

In
his message, Vice Gov. Senen O. Angeles called upon the constituents to support
the effort of the AFP and PNP in maintaining peace and order as “it will open up
the avenue for development of the people’s lives.”
Barrientos
also said the AFP presently assigned will remain here and will continue to support
the local PNP in the maintenance of peace and order.
Governor
Uy also vowed to implement development projects that will address poverty
problems in the province, thanking also the military and police for their efforts in peace
and order.
Chief
Supt. Basbas said “peace and order is a universal concern and everyone is
duty-bound to play his respective role.”
He
assured that “the police will continue to enforce law and order and will never
lower their guard, so as not to allow lawless elements any opportunity to
strike.”
Brigade
Commander, BGen. Apolinario Alobba of the 101st Infantry, said that insurgency
incidence has tremendously increased in the past years.
Though,
he admitted that the insurgents in the province are now on the run and
operating in remote areas only.
The
top military and police officials assured the public of their commitment to
serve and protect the people in the province.
