PDEA agent killed in Oro drug raid


CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) lost one of its agents in a raid at Barangay 31, last Monday, reports reaching Philippine Preview said.

PDEA named him as agent Joel Hinita, 44, who sustained caliber .45 gunshots in the head and different parts of the body.

In its report, DxRU-Radio Ultra said the drug agents also arrested six alleged drug dealers, including the one who shot Hinita, police identified him as Ibrahim Jafar Undaki.

In their statement, PDEA said the arrested suspects are just social contacts, as Brgy. 31 councilor Alfredo Magallanes, in an interview with DxRU, also said they are not familiar with them.

Magallanes added drug dealing is rampant in their barangay that people from other place “come, buy and leave.”

In this light, Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) director S/Supt. Faro Antonio Olaguera appealed to residents to support the police’s campaign against illegal drugs.

Olaguera said that a third of suspects presently detained by police are slapped case for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

It can be recalled that last April, this year, PDEA operatives nabbed a suspected drug den operator and more than a dozen users, including two minors, still sniffing shabu during a buy bust operation along Sto. NiƱo Street of the same barangay.
