Armed men rob RTMI bus in Sibugay



PAGADIAN CITY: Five would-be passengers held-up and robbed a Rural Transit bus and disarmed a policeman-passenger along the highway in Zamboanga Sibugay, police reports reaching Misamis News Digest said.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zampen Information OIC Inspector Dahlan Samuddin said the night highway robbery  took place last Saturday evening while the bus was in transit passing Dipala, Kabasalan.

Samuddin added that Rural Transit Mindanao Inc. (RTMI) 9502 was travelling towards this city coming from Zamboanga when five of the passengers armed with handguns suddenly declared the heist.

The robbers also took the .9-mm pistol of PO3 Jimwell Penales, cell phones, ATMs and P4,500 cash.

Samuddin said in his report that an undetermined worth of cash and valuables were taken by the robbers who disembarked and fled toward Ipil after the theft.

As of press time, investigation is continuing to uncover the identities of the five gunmen.

Highway robberies involving RTMI buses have been an endless testimony by travelers who pass through the municipalities of Zamboanga Sibugay during nightfall before and now.
