City to remember Sendong’s third anniversary


CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: This city is ready for the third year remembrance of Typhoon Sendong on Dec. 16, a new PIA report said.

Ramon L. Fernandez, chairman of shelter and housing development multi-sectoral task force, will spearhead the activities.

A mass will commence at the Saint Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral and a wreath-laying will follow at the Gaston Park Memorial Wall, as kick off activities.

Likewise, the Shelter and Housing Task Force will hand over 131 housing units to those relocated in Pagatpat Habitat Resettlement Site and another 84 units in Indahag Habitat Resettlement Site, PIA added.

Ceremonial candle lighting at 5:00 in the afternoon will be held at the Cagayan de Oro River.

Various products as livelihood projects will be displayed by the residents relocated at Pagatpat in their “Christmas Bazaar” are held daily at Gaston Park and will end on Dec. 30.

December 18, a video presentation will feature families expressing their gratitude to those who helped them and a singing contest will be done by those displaced by Sendong from the different relocation sites.

Wrapping up the tribute event is a Free Zumba dance party at the City Hall mini park on Dec. 20.
