PAGADIAN
CITY: It’s here again.
The
National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is implementing power
curtailment in Zamboanga del Sur as the Pulangi IV hydroelectric power plant in
Bukidnon is functioning way below its capacity.
Zamboanga
del Sur Electric Cooperative-1 (Zamsureco-1) says the notice took effectivity
last Monday, Dec. 5.
Liberal
Cabatcha, Zamsureco-1 information officer, said NGCP informed them that the 255-megawatt
Pulangi IV hydroelectric plant, also known as Pulangi Dam, could only generate
20-MW.
Pulangi
IV uses two reservoirs, produced by damming the Pulangi River, to supply water
to a run-of-the-river hydroelectric power plant.
Cabatcha
explained that Zamsureco-1 member-consumers will experience three-hour brownouts
daily.
The
power cooperative is receiving 22 MW power supply daily but their power demand is
30-MW.
He
said that there is no information yet as to when the power situation will be
normalized.
Aside
from this, Zamsureco-1 gives out advisories now and then due to their placing of
power lines inside Camella Homes at Tiguma, this city.
Though
areas affected may be selective; still the power cooperative tells its
consumers to “take all necessary measures to protect their appliances and
electrical equipment.”
