CITY: City policemen sealed last Monday the firearm muzzles of 1,222 policemen
in compliance
with the PNP directive of a safe yuletide celebration.

police director Angelito Casimiro said such move will prevent indiscriminate
firing from policemen during Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations and “o
lessen if not eliminate cases of stray bullet victims.”
The
gun muzzle taping, however, still authorizes policemen to respond to emergency
cases and tha they can still use their guns even when the muzzles are taped,
but only for official duties.

He
said the masking tape on police firearms will be removed in an inspection on
Jan. 3, 2015 to check who among the policemen have fired their guns.
More
than 1,000 policemen are assigned in this city’s 11 police stations, Zamboanga
City Public Safety Company and ZCPO headquarters.
