PNP gears for the holiday with ‘No break policy’

OZAMIZ CITY: PNP Dir. Gen. Alan Purisma has directed all police officers to implement the “no leave, no break” policy from Dec. 15, 2014 to Jan. 10, 2015.

This means that policemen are longer be allowed to take a five-day vacation on Christmas and New Year, like in previous years.

This is a new policy which is part of the PNP’s “Ligtas Paskuhan 2014″ operation to deter crimes during the holidays, Purisima said.

Under Purisima’s order, policemen will be deployed in places of worship, malls, markets, commercial areas or business districts, bus terminals and MRT or LRT stations.

Police visibility is also obligatory in seaports, airports, tourist destinations, vital installations and provision on route security to ensure a safe, secure and meaningful celebration of the Yuletide Season.

The PNP director said policemen should be alert at this time and people should see more cops on the street than criminals preying on the public.

Force multipliers like the BPATs, private security agencies, NGOs and CVOs will also be mobilized to augment local police units in security operations.

PNP personnel are expected to report to work on the holidays and if it’s not their shift anymore, could go home and celebrate Christmas and New Year with their families.
