Fire burns 15 houses in Tagum City

TAGUM CITY: Some 15 houses were reduced to ashes inside the Ferrido Compound in Brgy. Mankilam last Sunday, Nov. 23, latest report reaching The Philippine Preview said.

The fire department said most of the victims were oblivious of the fire because they were out of the compound that time watching the Pacquiao-Algerie live coverage on television.

Some said they were also in church attending mass while others said they went to a baptismal for their kin.

The BFP said the fire started 10:00 0’clock in the morning which suddenly set ablaze other houses made of light materials.

Angry residents pointed at the shanty of a certain Doming General, who was cooking at that time, as the origin of the fire.

All of the victims slept at the Barangay Gym that evening as they made an appeal to their boxing idol to look at their plight and help them build back their houses.

Raquel Ang, one of the victims, said she is thankful that even with their present accommodation, what matters most is that Manny Pacquiao still won the fight.

Her neighbor, Rule Cubio, added Pacquiao’s victory indicate the boxing legend will hear their plea and build them new houses, as simple as the ones worth P40,000. (WITH REPORT FROM CESAR LANOS)
