CDCC aids Fire Victims

Pagadian City(update) – The City Disaster Coordinating Council convene yesterday (February 10) four hours after two purok of Barangay Santiago this city was burned down to ashes when a fire broke at 11:50 AM which according to some fire victims disclosed that because of whirling winds it escalate immediately as firemen tried to control 10 minutes after the received the fire call.

Mayor Samuel S. Co, City Mayor and chairman of the CDCC convene the council at around 5:00 and presided what must be done. An emergency relief operations was conducted to more or less 114 families affected( but later final counting was done by the CSWD turn into 135) a Barangay Hall with its Health Center, 5 room School Building of the Santiago Elementary School, and more or less 700-1000 individuals loss their homes.

CDCC also pass a resolution to the Sangguniang Panlungsod proclaiming Barangay Santiago a calamity area after the Bureau of Fire protection under F/Insp Christopher Morales declared estimated fire damage worth 30-35 million pesos.

It was decided by the city disaster coordinating council to give cash assistance of P3, 000 every families and P2, 000 for every house.

Meantime an investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection on the cause of the fire which witnesses’ allegedly pointing to one of the shanties wherein occupants while cooking left the house to do some chores.
