PAGADIAN CITY: The Rotary Club of Pagadian West and Zamsureco-I will be sent as private sector representatives to the Regional Development Council (RDC) conference next month, information relayed from the Capitol recently said.
The Regional Development Council is the highest policy-making body in the region and serves as the counterpart of the NEDA Board at the sub-national level.
The RDC is the primary institution that coordinates and sets the direction of all economic and social development efforts in the region and as a forum where local efforts can be related and integrated with national development activities.
A press release from the Capitol said that Rotary Club of Pagadian West President Virgilio Ordoñez and Zamsureco-I General Manager Jose Raul Saniel will fill in the two slots allotted for the private sector to the RDC along with the Governor, League of Municipalities President, and identified entities.
Ordoñez and Saniel’s election will be confirmed this September when the first RDC meeting will be held, DILG Provincial Director Abcede Asjali said.
Asjali was the presiding officer during the consultative meeting and selection of representatives from among the accredited Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Private Organizations (POs) and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) in the province last July 16.
In the said meeting, both the Rotary Club of Pagadian West and Zamsureco-I were voted to be among the eleven private organizations voted as members of the Provincial Development Council (PDC) for the next three years.
The Provincial Planning and Development Office is designated Secretariat to the PDC with Loy Cañales as head.
Aside from Rotary and Zamsureco, the other PDC members and their representatives are Midsalip Multi-Purpose Coop (Rommel Bendicion), Banag-Banag Women's Foundation ( Dra. Priscilla Fernandez), Senior Citizen Federation (Ricardo Javate), Guardians Brotherhood, Inc. (Danilo Celerian), COMETS (Ben Toledo), Lapuyan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Glicerio Lucresia), RECON DOERS (Wellie Geographia), Mother Butlers Guild of the Philippines, Pagadian Chapter (Marietta F. Dagupan), and Mt. Malindang Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Gerry Chatto).
Five other members of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) were also selected, namely: David Ilarde as chairman of ZDS Small Coconut Farmers based in Molave; Marivi Jongco, President of the ZDS-Pagadian City Press Club, Inc.; Wilson Aliñab of the Greater Pagadian Jaycees; Dolores Marasigan of the Catholic Womens' League; and Elena Hisoler of the Girl Scout of the Philippines – Zamboanga del Sur chapter.
Meanwhile, Integral Development Foundation (AID)’s Rolando Accompanado is the NGO chosen to be a member of the Local Health Board.
