Tambulig sets climate change forum on Dec. 9

TAMBULIG, Zambosur: The local government is drawing public support to an upcoming climate change adaptation and mitigation forum.

The DENR and PIA will conduct the said advocacy forum on Dec. 9 at the municipal mayor’s office here.

Zambosur information center head Claro Lanipa said PIA is helping the climate change advocacy campaign pursued by the environment department.

About 100 preferred town officials, employees and some from the academe are invited in the forum.

The committee chairmen of barangay disaster risk reduction and management councils are particularly requested to attend, added Lanipa.

The PIA said they are bringing the climate change forum to the LGU after round-table discussions were first held in public secondary schools.

Video evidence depicting the origins and consequence of climate change will be shown during the forum, said Lanipa.

Likewise, municipal administrator Gilbert Colegado Jr. said he is delighted in behalf of all Tambulig constituents owing to the fact that DENR and PIA chose them as the primary LGU where the opportunity of putting in the picture of climate change adaptation and mitigation will be made.

Tambulig is a flood-prone municipality, and learning from the experts about climate change help us adapt and lessen its impact and prevent the loss of lives and properties, Colegado ended. (WITH REPORTS FROM GIDEON CORGUE)
