MOA on UBAS launched in ZamBaSulta


Zamboanga City: The Ugnayan ng Barangay at Simbahan (UBAS) and Huntahan ng mga Ulama at Liga para sa Mamamayan (HULMA) in Zamboanga Peninsula and ARMM is gaining support here.

In fact, barangay and interfaith leaders signed a MOA and issued a unity statement last Nov. 27.

UBAS is a partnership between and among the national government, barangays and interfaith organizations to encourage active community participation among residents.

It is a watchdog for good governance and in monitoring of government projects in Zambasulta areas.

A launching was also participated by Mufti and Uztadz of Sulu, Basilan, and Tawi-tawi, with members of the interfaith of this city and Zambasulta representatives.

DILG Usec. Austere A. Panadero, representing Sec. Roxas, LnB National Pres. Atty. Edmund Abesamis, Rev. Fr. William D. Quiamjot of the Archdiocese of Zamboanga and Dr. Aboulkhair S. Tarazon, chairman of Regional Darul Ifta, were signatories of the MOA.

Mayor Beng Climaco commended DILG and participants for coming together in pursuit of peace and harmony in diversity, stressing that people in Zamboanga are united for peace.

Climaco stressed that the roles of CSOs and NGOs in advocating and promoting good governance and people’s participation at the local level have been recognized.

Aside from the MOA signing, a turn-over of the detailed list of GPP projects implemented in Region 9 and ARMM was made to the representatives from the LnB, Archdiocese of Zamboanga and the ARMM Regional Darul-Ifta.
