22 Zampen towns finish training on water projects

Pagadian City: The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG-9) said it has facilitated a training–workshop on preparation and procurement for Grassroots Participatory Budgeting Process (GPBP) for 22 municipalities.

The training was attended by 2014 GPP-water recipient municipalities from the region’s three provinces last Nov. 24 to 27, a new press release said.

DILG identified the towns as Godod, Gutalac, Jose Dalman, Kalawit, Labason, Liloy, Manukan, Mutia, Rizal, Sibuco and Sibutad of Zambonorte; Bayog, Dimataling, Dumingag, Guipos, Lapuyan, Pitogo, Ramon Magsaysay, San Miguel and Vicenzo Sagun of Zambosur; and Imelda and Buug of Zambo Sibugay.

Mainly the municipal planning and development coordinators, municipal engineers or water supply supervisor and the SB member on Infrastructure were invited to attend.

Likewise, the provincial planning and development coordinator and provincial engineers from both Zambonorte and Zambosur present.

DILG Reg. Dir. Paisal O. Abutazil emphasized that the detailed engineering design is vital for the implementation of the projects since it is one of the requirements for the release of funds.

It was learned that Zamboanga Peninsula lagged in fund utilization, at a mere 38 percent, compared to others who are already at 85 percent, said Abutazil.

He then urged LGUs to fast-track submission of their documents for the funds to be released before January 2015 so that allocation will not be reverted and realigned for other purposes.

The training-workshop is part of the series of DILG capacity development programs for Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig Para sa Lahat (SaLinTubig).
