Misor under state of calamity



CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano has put the province under the state of calamity following the desolation brought by tropical storm Seniang.

The PDRRMC is currently conducting its prompt damage assessment as the Mambayaan and Kibanban bridges in the province have been reported damaged.

The bridges in Barangay Kiwal in Balingsag; Santa-Ana in Tagoloan and Barangay Minalwang in Claveria were also damaged.
 
Some 12,619 persons were sent to 28 evacuation centers, mostly Gingoog residents, said PDRRMC.

The PAGASA has earlier placed Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental, including this city, under storm warning signal number 2 as Seniang barreled into land in Bakulin, Hinatuan town in Surigao del Sur dawn, last Monday.

This city has some 5,000 people holed up in evacuation centers after it declared code red alert Monday.

Flights at Laguindingan airport were cancelled and diverted on Monday while ships were also prevented to set sail at Macabalan port in the city, stranding some 300 passengers.

A report from PIA cited information indicating the province's damages as impassable major roads and bridges, electricity, potable water system, transport system and communication systems destruction, and that of fishponds, crops, poultry and livestocks and other agricultural products.
