City gives away P2M for Paskuhan 2014



PAGADIAN CITY: Some P2-million in total prizes is at stake for the winners of the Paskuhan 2014 various lighting contests, Mayor Romeo “Tata” Pulmones said.

“Paskuhan” is the traditonal Christmas activity of the city government every December participated by various business establishments and socio-civic organizations.

Annually, brightly illuminated Christmas symbols and parols are put on show around Plaza Luz, each vying for a prize.

Pulmones said the display comes with prizes: “Light a tree” contest winners get P100,000 (first); P75,000 (second); P50,000 (third). A consolation prize of P5,000 each is also given

Prizes in form of a barangay project is given to the  winners of the “Light a barangay hall” and “Light a parol” contests.

A P600-T prize goes to “Light a barangay hall” winner; P370-T (second); P250-T (third) and P20-T in consolation prizes.

Another P350-T goes to the winner of the “Light a parol”; P240-T for second; P130-T for the third and P20-T in consolation prizes.

Pulmones added that infrastructure projects equal to worth of the prizes won will be put into service in the second quarter of 2015.

The mayor said that in behalf of the city, he is expressing his gratitude for the favor and abundant blessings received from divine providence though Paskuhan 2014, as he values also the spirit of giving and loving this Christmas.

The PNP, added Pulmones, is on alert for the Paskuhan 2014 period, with their uniformed personnel always seen at the vicinity of the city plaza to maintain peace and order.

The 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division also declared they assigned some military personnel in civilian attire to augment PNP forces and help ensure public safety and order.

The Paskuhan 2014 was opened last Friday at the Taclobo Stage in Plaza Luz, complete with dance programs, speeches from provincial and local officials, a fireworks display and the exhibition of the dancing water fountains.

The Christmas festival opening coincided with the lighting of the Giant Christmas Tree by Pulmones at the city rotunda.

The final judging and awarding of prizes will be held on Jan. 16, 2015 during this city’s fiesta.
