The city, through City
General Services Officer Engr. Rene Dela Cruz, has announced a P9 million to
upgrade traffic lights in the city proper’s three major intersections.
Cruz said the city will
try departing away from old equipment and is ready for state-of-the-art
technology.

the existing traffic lights in the city were installed some 15 years ago, which
has for years created a drag on commerce and the quality of life that has
persisted here for generations.
Dela Cruz said among
the traffic lights to be improved those at the intersections of Sta. Cruz and
Veterans Avenue, Camins and Jaldon, and from Jaldon and Alvarez Avenue.
He said the new system
will have cables posts using light-emitting diode.
He added the timers
will also be replaced so that the flow of traffic will have synchronization to
keep cars moving as smoothly as possible as motorist will know how many seconds
until the traffic lights will shift to full stop or green.
The improvement of the traffic
lights of other major intersections such as Veterans and Alvarez Avenues, Lim
and Veterans Avenues and Baliwasan Chico and San Jose Road will start early
next year, he disclosed.
