10 soldiers hurt in truck accident in Aurora

Pagadian City: Ten soldiers of the armed forces were brought to the hospital for injuries after their military vehicle overshot a ravine and fell 100 meters, the military said yesterday.

According to the Aurora Municipal Police Station, the soldiers were onboard a KM450 military truck and was traveling towards the 52nd EB in Camp Natividad, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon when the vehicle went out of control upon reaching a blind curve.

Police investigation showed a malfunction in the brakes.

Captain Franco Suelto, spokesman of the Army's 1st Infantry Division, said an officer and nine enlisted personnel sustained minor injuries.

The accident last Nov. 17 followed that of a RTMI bus in April that killed six people and injured 16 others.

Travelers say the highway of Brgy Anunang in the nearby town of Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur is an accident prone area.
