ZAMBOANGA CITY: United
States Ambassador Philip S. Goldberg has met young peace advocates here during
his recent visit last week.
Goldberg told students
of the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) said the US government is steadfast
in helping young people around the world including Filipinos create a better
future.
He also disclosed that
the US has been supporting out-of-school youths (OSYs) under their development
programs in Mindanao with livelihood skills training.
Some 181 OSYs under the
US Embassy Manila’s United States Agency for International Development-Mindanao
Youth for Development (USAID-MYDev) were helped in the city, he said.
Goldberg also attended
the signing of the Cities Development Initiative (CDI) between the US
government and this city.
The CDI, which is part
of the US-Philippines Partnership for Growth, aims to stimulate the city’s
development potential through collaboration in the areas of health, education
and environment as well as economic and invest promotions.
The ambassador also met
with participants in the journalistic writing workshops conducted by the
Zamboanga del Norte Press club (ZNPC) and Philippine Information Agency (PIA)
