PRO-9 recruits 52 new cops

Zamboanga city: The PNP Regional Office-9 has announced its recruitment of 52 new policemen for this city, Director Edgar Basbas said last week.

Basbas added the hiring of the new policemen is part of the continuous recruitment process of the national police agency.

Basbas said the PNP recruitment allocation for Zamboanga Peninsula is 300 for new personnel and that the 52 fresh recruits is part of the additional quota they have for his command in 2014.

The newly-recruited cops are currently undergoing training and will be assigned in this city after their completion.

He added that despite of their recruitment, PRO-9 is still shorthanded, with one policeman for every 700 people, instead of the ideal ratio of one policeman attending to 500 people.

General qualifications, among others for PNP enlistment include: good moral character, good physical and mental health, including a psychological and or neuro psychiatric test – to determine if applicants may be suffering from any mental disorder.
