Zamboanga City: This city joins other metropolis in the island
in celebrating the Mindanao Week of Peace.
Climaco
signed an executive order last Nov. 10 urging the academe, government bodies and
public and private organizations to participate in this year's activities
sponsored by Peace Advocates Zamboanga and the Inter-religious Solidarity
Movement for Peace.
The
celebration will be observed in the city from Nov. 27 to Dec. 3.
As
in the past years, thousands will be marching in parade to express their call
for peace and harmony in Mindanao from communal conflict and violence.
Proclamation
Order 127 issued in 2001 by then Pres. Gloria Arroyo declares every last
Thursday of November up to the first Wednesday of December of every year as
Mindanao Week of Peace.
The
observance of the Week of Peace started through the initiative of a small group
of Catholic and Muslim religious leaders here in 2000.
