History, songs, dances in Tangub’s heritage and culture week


TANGUB CITY: A quiz show on local history for elementary and high school students will start the Heritage and Culture Week to be held here from Nov. 22-28, a PIA report said.

This year’s the celebration carries the theme: Ang Pag-usab Ugma, Magsugod karon, Gamit ang Kaalgm Gahapon.”  

The Tangub City Historical Commission (TCHC) spearheads the activity with DepEd, GADTC and NMSC.

A poster-making contest will be made and also Balitaw wit and humor competition in Visayan verses for senior citizens and college students is set on Nov. 23, said Narcisa Naron, TCHC general commissioner.

Other activities include reviving the courtship of yesteryears like ‘Harana’ or singing of Visayan love songs competition for senior citizens and the academe on Nov. 24. 

Tagalog songs or Kundiman competition and discovering the musical talent of the new generation thru the rap competition for secondary and college students will be on Nov. 25.    

A folk dance competition for elementary, secondary college students is scheduled on Nov. 26 with a salute to future Tangubanon parliamentarians thru “Lantugi,” a debate in Visayan using the Lubas sa Dagang Binisaya (LuDaBi) by college students will also be on Nov. 27.

Capping it all on Nov. 28 is the “Grand Bayle,” a tribute to senior citizens featuring the winners of kundiman, balitaw and rap competitions, Naron added.
