A driver was killed and his lady co-worker wounded, Wednesday, Dec. 16, when two muggers tried to rob and shoot them in the process.
City Police Chief Inspector Michael Palermo narrated that the foiled robbery occurred at the PAFCPIC office, located along Lawiswis Drive in Sagun St., this city, just about 500 meters from the PNP Provincial Headquarters.
Initial investigation by Palermo revealed that Jocelyn Sacurom Tañola, cashier of PAFCPIC, and her driver, identified as Reynaldo Francisco Noble, has just arrived from the bank when the two muggers suddenly showed up and declared a stick-up.
Noble accordingly tried to push Tañola away from the robbers in an effort to let her sprint out of the area but the hold-uppers started shooting at the two.
Some witnesses in the area told police they saw the hold-uppers get on a waiting Honda Civic with plate number WDS 431 after the incident at the same time as both victims were rushed to Metro Hospital.
Noble sustained three gun shot wounds at his body and was later pronounced dead while Tañola only sustained a slight wound at her right arm.
Palermo said they are coordinating with the LTO to check out who owns the Honda Civic and possibly identify the unknown robbers.
In related news, that evening, a total of P28,500 worth of assorted goods were carted away by the still unidentified persons who ransacked a stall inside the covered court in Plaza Luz.
