RMN tackles new strategies in broadcasting

BROADCAST executives, news writers and reporters of Radio Mindanao Network (RMN) around Mindanao gathered here for a two-day radio journalism workshop which aims on deepening story appraisal and writing.

Held at Guillermo Hotel, participants of the radio journalism workshop on Level 2 broadcast reportage likewise included station managers, program and news directors and anchormen of RMN.

Radio Network Assistant Vice-President for Operations Rey Bayoging said that the radio management chose to conduct the said seminar in an effort to advance RMN broadcasters’ development in reporting.

The seminar actually was all about learning news judgment and seeing growth areas of RMN journalists in how they think about covering events and what sorts of events should be covered as well as tips on deepening a reporter’s story.

During the workshop, participants are tasked to formulate strategies in coverages, news treatment and exposure and build up a course of action which deals with everyday situations.

Bayoging added the RMN conference is just one of the series of meetings conducted by RMN management in all its stations nationwide, an endeavor to professionalize broadcasting.

The recently concluded conference here is the seventh RMN Radio Journalism Seminar-Workshop, starting from Davao City in July 24-25, then in Malaybalay City last July 31–August 1 before hopping to Iloilo City and finally closing in Metro Manila.

Bayoging stressed that it may not be an easy job to upgrade their level of media professionalism especially when most RMN broadcasters are considered experts in the field, are very familiar in their field of assignments and have created for themselves laudable credits.

But he added that RMN management is more determined, making it part of the company’s intention of policy innovation attuned to the modern times of the broadcast industry.
