Camp Dominguez reservist unit welcomes new chief

SINACABAN, MISOC: A new commanding officer sits in the 1st Misamis Occidental, 903rd Community Defense Center, (CDC) of the 9th Regional Community Defense Group (RCDG), Army Reserve Command (Arescom) in Camp Domiguez, this town.

2Lt. Edgar Macabinguil of the Infantry Philippine Army and a native of Bayawan, Negros Oriental, took the place vacated by 2lt. Philip Lobo who headed the said command for almost a year.

The 33-year officer was formerly assigned in the 72nd IB, 10th Infantry Division based in Davao in 1996.

He was commissioned in 2007 and received his call to active duty last January 16, this year, through Col. Emmanuel Mendoza, group commander of the 9th RCDG.

The new Arescom head said he was grateful for the reception he received from Gov. Loreto Ocampos and Mayor Delio Lood. .

An active ROTC officer during his college days, Ocampos is presently a battalion commander of the Arescom while Lood has had supported various projects and initiatives by the reservists assigned in Camp Dominguez.

Macabinguil said he will put to good use his rapport with provincial and local officials by establishing programs that will help the community and the reservists.

Republic Act 7077, or the AFP Reservist Act of 1991, provides for the organization, administration, training, maintenance, and utilization of the Citizen Armed Force of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and for other purposes.

On July 1992, the Reserve Command, Philippine Army became a major Philippine Army unit tasked to implement the plans and programs for Reservists and Retirees Affairs.

Fourteen RCDGs were organized and maintained with one standby Reserve Infantry Division and 73 CDCs which is grouped into Battlion size Reservist Units in every region of the country.

This unit was renamed Arescom in October 1999 pursuant to General Order Nr 1300.
