Police impounds truckload of guns, ammunitions

OROQUIETA CITY—The Provincial Highway Patrol Team (HPG-10) apprehended three suspects and impounded their vehicle after failing show legal papers for the sackload of assorted firearms and ammunitions they were transporting, Jan. 29.

Police S/Supt Romeo Razon Uy, regional director, identified the arrested persons as Hanzel Paculba, Ambrocio Canter and Jovencio Tamondong.

Paculba was said to be the driver of Isuzu dumptruck loaded with the firearms while Canter and Tamondong identified themselves as security supervisors of Double Top Security Agency, based in Iligan City.

Police confiscated their load, which included three sacks full of M-16 rifles, 21 shotguns, 25 cal.38 revolvers and a bag full of different live ammunitions.

Also, 15 assorted handheld radio sets, logbooks and four motorcycles were discovered at the back of the dumptruck.

SPO4 Ebra Rajah, who led the apprehending team along with members of the TMEAG Force, said the three were flagged along the national highway of Brgy. Southern Looc, Plaridel, Misamis Occidental.

The three averred that they are transferring the said firearms from their office in Zamboanga to Iligan. But police said the three failed to show legal documents for their cargoes.

Rajah said they will file charges of illegal possession of high caliber firearms against the three arrested persons.
