The Pagadian City Water District (PAWAD) is opening its most treasured eco-tourism recreational area, the Manga Serenity Park.

PAWAD general manager Ed Yorong said they are closely working with the city government, through the Pagadian City Tourism Council (PCTC) and the local tourism office for the development and promotion of the park.

Manga Serenity Park is in Brgy. Manga, about 10 kilometers away from the city proper.

This mini-forest was acquired by PAWAD a few years back for its watershed project as a spring for potable water, catering more than 2,000 families.

The park covers 11.6 hectares blessed with a 20 feet waterfalls cascading down into a lagoon.

Pawad, sensing its natural and captivating beauty, decided to rehabilitate it and turn into an educational eco-tourism destination for students and tourists.

The water district made safe routes and trekking steps as well as converted the lagoon into small swimming pool. All the trees there are marked and named according to its genus.

PCTC chair and former PAWAD director introduced Manga Serenity Park last week during the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Tourism Council (ZPRTC) stakeholders meeting last week.

Meanwhile, lawyer Allan Ranillo of Dipolog City, who heads ZPRTC, said he was impressed when he visited the park and experienced its natural conveniences for himself.

Mayor Samuel Co, who was there with the ZPRTC officials, said he will support the said tourism project.
