Priesthood is the authority and power to act for and in the name of God. Since it requires authority, there is no question that it must come or originate from God or the Heavens. Power, in that sense and in essence, is predicated upon the person's righteousness and spirituality, for without these necessary traits, God will withdraw his power from the priesthood holder. Alas, when withdrawn, the priesthood become useless.
This priesthood or the power to act for in the name of God, has been a privelege given to Adam. It was also given to Adam. It was also given to Elijah, Noah, Abraham, Moses and all the anointed prophets of God. The Great Almighty works through the instrumentality of men, in order to pursue His "great plan of salvation."
The same priesthoood was given to Peter and the other eleven disciples who became apostles chosen by Jesus Christ when He built His church upon the rock of revelation."
Unfortunately, the same priesthood was lost, vacated or taken away, when Jesus Christ was arrested, made to suffer, hanged on the cross and died; and when his apostles were, likewise, pursued, hunted and killed. In the place or stead of the church built and organized by Jesus Christ was founded and established a church that claims to be universal, carried on the apostles and based in Rome, known today as Vatican City.
It is claim that evolves or revolves around a grand falsehood, because it insisted that Peter was its first Pope, when, in truth and in fact, Peter died without reaching and seeing Rome. The same church, which is said to be preaching the "gospel of perpetuation" has long enunciated man-made doctrines, introduced and practices priestcraft while blinding its followers, believers and faithful with an array of superstitious beliefs. It is the church whish spread by conquest and by imposition. It became a worldwide church during the reign of Roman Emperor Constantine who claim divine inspiration, took over the papal throne, appointed cardinals, bishops and priests and enunciated doctrines and dogmas not only outside of, but also contrary to, the Holy Scriptures.
Jesus Christ aptly warned of the inauguration and proliferation of priestcraft. This can be gleaned from what Christ said as recorded in Matthew, Chapter 7, Verses 21 to 23, which we quote: " Not everyone sayeth unto Me, Lord, Lord shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord have we not prophesied in thy name, cast out demons in thy name and done many wonderful works in thy name? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you, depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
The priestcraft being practiced, after the church built and organized by Jesus Christ dwindled and fell away by apostasy from within and without, became popular among those who protested and departed from the church based in Rome.
Priestcraft, by the way, is a calling among pseudo-Christians whereby the name of Jesus Christ and his "church" is utilized as a means of earning a living. Just like any "craft" for livelihood purposes, the calling is predicated upon the need of the minister. priest or pastor to get a share from what may be derived from the congregation in terms of tithes, offerings and other contributions. In short, they are paid clergies, they derive salary, allowance or pay from the church.
Priescraft is the reason or cause why there are so many Christian churches all over the world, all ascribing authority from the Bible (Old and New Testaments). They all smacked right into the hole laid for them by the gospel of St. Matthew, Chapter 7, Verses 21 up to 23, as above-quoted.
Priescraft or the practice thereof is likened by Christ to a "hireling," who will "flee when the wolves come to devour the sheep." To priescraft advocates and practitioners, Christ will tell them, in due time, I NEVER KNEW YOU, DEPART FROM ME, YE THAT WORK INIQUITY.
