Grade-3 pupil named ‘local envoy’ in intelligence

TANGUB CITY—A 9-year old pupil of Tangub City Central School (TCCS) was chosen as this year’s “Regions Local Junior Ambassador for Bright Child.”

Susie Abellana told this paper that her Grade-3 daughter, Nikka, impressed the judges and passed all the requirements with flying colors.

The requirements submitted by Susie for the contest were the breastfeeding and immunization records, as well as the certification, which showed that Nikka is consistently on the honor roll since kindergarten until present.

Nikka beat other nominees from Bukidnon’s Malaybalay and El Salvador cities in Misamis Oriental by delivering a 15-minute story she earlier memorized.

When ask of her message to other children, Nikka said that parents should encourage their children to attend school since it will equip them for the future.

As “Junior Ambassador for Bright Child,” Nikka will represent in the DSWD-initiated local junior ambassador program, which aims to create a role model to children on stressing the importance of health and nutrition.

The said program also emphasizes psychological, education and social protection services from conception to adolescence and continous practicing of positive attitudes and behaviour towards becoming a healthy, responsible and self-reliant citizen.
