Filipino-Chinese biz chamber turns over school buildings

OZAMIZ CITY—The Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) recently turned over several school buildings it donated to the cities of Tangub, Oroquieta and this city.

The turnover activities are in line with FFCCCII’s flagship project called “Operation Barrio School,” which aims to support the education initiative of the national government.

“Operation Barrio School” has been erecting school buildings in different parts of the country since 1960 with some 4,000 school structures already built or more than 8,000 classrooms given to various local schools in far flung areas.

FFCCCII Welfare Directors Antonio Cosing and Alfredo Lim, Project Coordinator Carlos Lim Legaspi led turnover ceremonies in the cities mentioned along with local officers.

Representing the local governments were Mayors Samuel Co of Pagadian and Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. of Ozamiz and Misamis Occidental Gov. Loreto Leo Ocampos.

Also present are the representatives of the Local FFCCCII chapters: Regional Directors Benjamin Chiong, Nelson Te and Diego Yew with DepEd division superintendents Victorina Perez and Jonathan Dela Peña.

City businessmen Eng Seng Tee, Wilson Co, Willy Alinâb, Roberto Tan Jr., Michael Tan, Patrick Wee, Ang So Yu, Alex Co, Steve Lim, Edward Yulinkon, Arthur Chan, Pershing Tanqueto Jr., Felipe Loy and the respective school principals were also in hand to witness the activities.

FFCCCII subscribes to the motto. “Education is the best legacy that can be given to the youth, so that they can attain a prosperous future.” This in turn will help the country to rise up from poverty.

Aside from the activity, FFCCCII conducted medical missions in respective places with its mobile x- ray van for use in medical and dental missions. Likewise, FFCCCII give relief assistance to displaced persons during calamities and volunteer fire brigades around the country.
