MAYOR Samuel Co beefs up security measures in this city’s airport following in the light of its continuing rehabilitation work amounting P300-million.
The so-called Pagadian Airport Development Project is expected to culminate before 2010 as Co said he was grateful for President Gloria Arroyo and Gov. Aurora Cerilles for the effort.
Co, in a huddle with this paper, said he is likewise extending his appreciation the residents of Brgy. Moricay, headed by punong barangay Arman Mohammad, for cooperating in the negotiations to donate the lot affected by the rerouting of the airport road and for its parking compound.
At present, the airport is closed because of the ongoing rehabilitation and so as not hamper the works, vehicles crossing in and out of the area are no longer allowed.
Co said he will prioritize the construction the Kawit Bridge, connecting Moricay so residents in the area will not risk crossing the runway in coming to the city proper.
