Zambo police recovers a total P6M shabu in 2014 drug operations

ZAMBOANGA CITY: Almost P7-million worth of shabu was seized by police authorities this year, the ZCPO said.

Public Safety Company Commander P/Supt. Ariel Huesca placed the exact amount at P6.725 million, a result of their aggressive and intensified anti-drug campaign in the city.

In the course of 12 months, combined efforts of the Public Safety Company and all 11 police stations resulted in the arrest of 513 persons and the filing of 309 cases, with a total of 1,575.94 grams of shabu confiscated.

Huesca noted these accomplishments are not without legal challenges, with charges and cases filed by suspects and arrested individuals themselves.

Mayor Beng Climaco has been supportive too, he added, providing legal support to police personnel facing such legal encounter and morally supporting them.

Climaco, on her part, said the City Legal Office is on hand to help the policemen, then the PAO and if it cannot be really fully responded to, then the private lawyers hired to ensure that the police are protected in the implementation of the laws.

The ZCPO has also been aggressive in other activities, providing interventions and support to other law enforcement agencies in anti-smuggling operations.

As to the traffic division, 127 operations were conducted resulting to a total of 648 citation tickets issued for this month alone and 53 individuals jaywalkers arrested, of which 32 were issued citation tickets, and the rest opted for community service.

Some 143 operations were conducted and 650 violators were issued citation tickets while 65 others were issued temporary operating permits.
