Tambulig supports climate change advocacy

TAMBULIG, ZAMBOSUR: Questions filled the climate change advocacy forum on adaptation and mitigation held here last Dec. 9.

Is climate change a usual phenomenon? Something needs to be done and what? What does your contribution now have an effect on the future generation? These are some of the questions raised.

Philippine Information Agency (PIA-9) regional director Noemi B. Edaga invited the participants to answer, as she urged “the planting of more trees” to “help protect the environment.”

Likewise, Provincial Information Center manager Claro A. Lanipa lauded Mayor Caridad B. Balaod for her support to climate change advocacy campaign on adaptation and mitigation measures.

Participants of the forum are from the local academe and members of the Barangay Emergency Response Team (BERT).

The BERT was organized to address the need for an on-time response during emergency situations brought about by natural or man-made calamities.

In the said forum participants assured support to preservation efforts for the environment, saying they will “plant trees, conserve water, segregate their waste, and practice 3Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle.”

They also agreed, as advocates, to share the same information from the forum “to everyone.”

It is important that we prepare for climate change, adapt and mitigate its impact to avoid loss of lives, the PIA said.

The climate change advocacy forum was aired live over Tambulig own FM Radio Station, 94.9 Tambol.
