PAGADIAN CITY: In order to enhance the products and services of six municipalities in the region, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) gave a total P2.7 million for such purpose.

The financial assistance is DTI’s Grassroots Participatory Budgeting, formerly known as the Bottom-Up Budgeting.

DTI OIC-regional director Sitti Amina Jain, named the six towns that received financial assistance as Baliguian, Piñan, and Sindangan in Zambonorte; Kumalarang and Ramon Magsaysay in Zambosur; and Malangas in Zambosibugay.
Jain said Piñan and Sindangan received P130,000 each for their projects on Business Permit and Licensing System (BPLS).

The money will be used to speed up processing of business permits and licenses to encourage more investors to pour in their capital in their areas.

Jain said Baliguian received P185,000 for its promotion, wine packaging and preservation training of “pangasi,” their locally-produced wine.

She said Kumalarang got P570,000 for the projects on mat weaving and handicraft production.

Meantime, Jain disclosed that the DTI main office is still set to approve proposals for the establishment of a P6-million bio-diesel processing plant for small coco farmers in Salug, Zambonorte and P1.8-million mini oil mill in Ramon Magsaysay.
