OROQUIETA CITY: The “Air Passenger Bill of Rights” involves the right to full, fair and clear disclosure of all terms and conditions of carriage, a new PIA report said.

A joint administrative order of DOTC and DTI details these rights and should be known by all air passengers, Delia M. Ayano, DTI-provincial director said.

Ayano said passengers have also the right to clear and non-misleading advertisements which relates to their plane fares, including major restrictions, such as re-bookings and refunds of purchased tickets.

More passengers’ rights include those against misleading and fraudulent sales promotion practices, transportation and baggage conveyance and right to be processed for check-in, for passengers holding confirmed tickets, whether promotional or regular.

Among others, the passenger has the right to board aircraft, to compensation and amenities in case of flight cancellation and flight delay.

The plane passenger shall be notified beforehand via public announcement, written or published notice and flight status update service via text message, in case of flight cancellation attributable to the carrier.
