Zambo Sibugay PNP on watch vs. highway robbery


PAGADIAN CITY: The PNP in the nearby Sibugay province is placed on full alert to ensure the protection of travelers passing in the area.

Zamboanga Sibugay police director S/ Supt. Robert Roy Bahian issued the order after a new bus from the Rural Transit Management, Inc. (RTMI) was robbed along the national highway in Kabasalan, near midnight the other Saturday.

Investigation showed the heist occurred at Brgy Dipala while the bus was traveling to this city coming from Zamboanga.

The gunmen took away undetermined cash and valuables they divested from the passengers including the service firearm PO3 Jimwell Penales of Vincenzo Sagun who was among the passengers.

Surprised passengers said the suspects fled towards Ipil after the robbery.

As this developed, mobile patrols were intensified along the Zamboanga Sibugay highway to prevent repetition of the same incident as police are investigating the incident.

RTMI buses plying the route from Zamboanga to as far as Cagayan de Oro and Ozamiz cities pass through Zamboanga Sibugay, mainly in Ipil as stop-over area.
