PAGADIAN CITY: The
National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) will carry on with its 3-hour
rotational brownout imposed in this city starting Monday, Nov. 24.
The NGCP website said
it has the crucial task of delivering safe and reliable electricity throughout
the archipelago.
But as early as now,
several businessmen are complaining that the business climate of Christmas in the
city might be affected if the rotational brownout continues until Christmas.
Zamboanga del Sur
Electric Cooperative 1 (Zamsureco-1) information officer Liberal Cabatcha explained
the power curtailment imposed was not formally announced by the NGCP.
Cabatcha, however said Zamsureco
was already informed last October of the looming power limitation this
year-end, especially this Christmas season.
Cabatcha added that Zamsureco-1
will comply with NGCP’s 15-minute power outrage from 8:45 to 9:00 in the
morning and from 1:00 to 3:00 in the afternoon.
The affected consumers are
those living at the east portion of city comprising 10 barangays including the
nearby towns of Labangan and Tukuran.
Power curtailment will resume
again by 6:00 until 9:00 in the evening affecting the west portion of the city
comprising 12 barangays including some towns of the second congressional
district.
The NGCP has not given
any word about this rotational brownouts or how long they will last, Cabatcha
said, as the first brownout occurred yesterday after power was restored into regular
in September.
It was learned that peak
load demand for Zamsureco-1 is 34 MW to enable the cooperative to supply
electricity to almost 70,000 member-consumers in this city and 24 municipalities.
