BJMP files charges against Siocon jail breakers

PAGADIAN CITY: Following the jailbreak attempt at the Siocon Reformatory Center in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte last August 29, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) filed additional charges against those inmates involved in the incident.

Just three months after he assumed his post, Regional Director Senior Supt Arnulfo P. Obias said they already “conducted a thorough investigation” and he is waiting for the result to be forwarded to him this week.

BJMP reports said that the foiled jailbreak resulted in the death of a jail guard and two inmates including the wounding of eight others.

Obias said that a jail officer was returning a trustee to his cell when his two roommates grabbed his firearm and shot the guard to death.

The two prisoners, detained for murder charges, then led the break out with four other inmates firing at other guards of duty, wounding them.

The unpleasant incident prompted the immediate response of the Siocon Municipal Police Station, located a few meters away from municipal jail.

It was no known what grievances caused the prisoners to make their escape as BJMP claimed they have properly implemented the inmate treatment program to the jail’s 66 inmates. (Posted: MINDANAO PAGADIAN FRONTLINE)
