GOVERNOR Aurora Cerilles has lauded the efforts of those working for the realization of the Mindanao Railway System (MRS) which include Zamboanga Peninsula as one of its [routes.
The completion of the feasibility study for the formulation of a strategic railway development plan for Mindanao was presented during the recently concluded 129th Regional Development Council (RDC) meeting at the Liga City Convention Center.
Cerilles said she welcome the developments, especially upon learning of the inclusion of Zamboanga Peninsula and the forthcoming completion of the study and formulation this yearend.
The DOTC has given such assurance to the RDC and imparted all the details of the so-called strategic Railway Development Plan for Mindanao, including the pre-feasibility studies and technical assessments for the different railways section.
The MRS has been considered a priority project by the RDC, seeing it as a fast, efficient and cost effective public transport system for Mindanao.
Last July, 2nd District Rep. Antonio Cerilles claimed he is very sure the MRS project will be realized.
The congressman has long been advocating for the establishment of the MRS because, according to him, the MRS will bring sure development to Mindanao by connecting all urban centers and provincial capitals in the island.
