This province’s police command recently welcomed the PNP validation team from Camp Crame led by Deputy Director Dante Ferrer, head directorate for intelligence.
Ferrer and company, who were welcomed by Provincial Director Ramon Ochotorena, visited the city to assess the criteria for validation in the national contest for the best police station of the year.
It was learned that Pagadian City Police Station, along with that of Roxas and Sorsogon cities, are contenders for the city category.
In 2007, Roxas City was awarded as the best police station among component cities category.
Ohotorena and Pagadian Chief of Police Parson Asadil both expressed elation the city police headquarters is among the top three contenders of the search.
Meanwhile, the 905th Provincial Mobile Group (PMG) under P/Supt Nelson Eucogo will be contending against the 705th PMG of Police Office Region 7, Cebu City, and the 201st PMG of Police Regional Office 2 in Tuguegarao, Cagayan province.
In the municipal police station category, Molave Police Station, this province, will be competing against Ayunyon Municipal Station in Negros Oriental and San Jose Municipal station in Antique.
“We are hopeful that we will be adjudged as the best nationwide. My officers and men of the provincial office are very supportive of this,” Ochotorena said.
Ferrer, in explaining his assessment, said that his team will validate what the 2008 Annual General Inspection has came up in the criteria, such as police records management, financial administration, technical support and capabilities, administrative Functions and other police functions to include individual police duties.
The awarding for the country's best police stations this year will be held at Camp Crame in February to coincide with the 18th PNP anniversary celebration.
