The Federation of Tricycle Drivers and Operators in Pagadian City (Fetdopac) celebrates its first year anniversary, Jan. 8, dubbed as “Tricycle Operators and Drivers (TOD) Day.”

Businessman turned city councilor Arnold Gavenia created Fetdopac, through city ordinance 2K8-267 while Jesuseller Duterte of Pitdocon heads Fetdopac.

Gavenia, who chairs the committee on transportation and communication, said he espouses the significance of the motorcab transportation industry as one of the dynamic labor sector in the city.

He added that creating a day for the motorcab group to spend a day for themselves in camaraderie is one thing that will strengthen their sector, given their inimitable kind of tourism come-on, which are their motorized tricycles.

Gavenia sees the transport sector as having a social responsibility to the riding public and in promoting peace and development.

Several activities such as motorcade, medical and dental outreach and sports competition were held, capping with the 2009 Fetdocap oathtaking ceremonies and fellowship.

Some 2,500 motorized tricycles operate and ply the streets of Pagadian under the watchful eyes of the Motorized Tricycle Franchise and Regulatory Board.
