PULACAN, ZAMBOSUR—An army sergeant assigned with the Civil Military Operations (G7) of the 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division will be a six-figure richer after winning the 2008 Boys Scout of the Philippines (BSP) National Raffle Draw.
Staff Sergeant Jimmy Pino’s Ticket No. 1943246 was selected in the scout’s national lottery for the third prize winnings of P250,000.
Mayor Ace William Cerilles, chairman of the Pagadian City–Zamboanga Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay BSP Executive Council announced Pino’s name and the winning ticket.
Cerilles added that he was pleased somebody from the province won a prize in the BSP raffle during his term while Pino could only look dazed when the mayor called his name.
“I’m happy for him,” Cerilles said of Pino.
Pino’s superior, G7’s Assistant Chief of Staff Col. Agane Adriatico said he was also happy hearing the news of Pino’s booty.
He added that buying the BSP ticket not only made Pino rich but also helped promote the Boy Scout movement in the country.
“I congratulate Sergeant Pino for winning the raffle,” the colonel quipped.
Cerilles will accompany the army sergeant to Manila when he claims his prize before BSP National Executive Council Sec-Gen. Jose Rizal Panganiban.
