Christmas is one of the most important times of the year. It is a time to hear again the undying century old songs “Jingle bells”, “Silent Night”, “Joy to the World” and the Pinoy na Pinoy version “Pasko na Sinta ko.”
Whatever their Christians faith means to them and for others it is simply a good opportunity to debilitate with family and friends, as they will be coming home to grab the chance of long vacations.
Religious celebration are about a time of inclusion rather than exclusion and those who promote the peace and goodwill message will help to decrease or resolve tension and improve relations and concern between different body from religious to warring groups or to family feud.
The place in which we live in is a troubled location. Issues such as economic uncertainty due to recession, layoffs, high price of commodities, additional real property tax, and the political turmoil, and protectionism marred with crystal clear graft and corruption.
Terrorism and love of money have demanded our attention but at this time of the year we can safely turn our attention to a waiting God and find certainly, Hope, Love, Assurance and Peace, in fact, we are told that we should be anxious for nothing “Ayaw kamo kabalaka sa bisan unsa kondili pangayoa sa Dios ang inyong gikinahanglan uban ang pagpasalamat sa tanan ninyong pag-ampo.”
My hope for 2009 is that the goodwill and reverence that we all enjoy at Christmas will last forever.
