LABANGAN, ZAMBOSUR—It took another brave and daring leader to end a long-standing conflict between two warring families—the Bonga and Lao clans of Dinas, this province.
Cotabato Mayor and concurrent Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) Chairman Moslemen Sema presided over the settlement and reunion by the two clans in a meeting called by Mayor Abubakar Afdal, Nov. 29.
Both clans are related through the practice of intermarriage but still because of misunderstanding, a family feud erupted resulting to aggressions and reprisals.
Afdal said he wanted to end the hostilities from both clans, whom he considers as his relatives too, and settle any differences once and for all to stop more bloodshed and spare other family members from possible harm and death.
Natoy Bonga heads the Bonga clan, who is also the village chief of Poblacion Dimataling while Tatong Lao heads the Lao Clan.
Both leaders embraced each other as a sign of renewed friendship and familiarity during the Magkapatid sa Islam Dialogue, brokered by Sema and witnessed by other Muslim officials and relatives.
