ZAMBOANGA CITY: Police authorities here recovered a
kilo of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, with an estimated market value
of P6 million.
Zamboanga City Police Office Director Angelito
Casimiro said the shabu was repacked in 11 large-sized plastic sachets and was
recovered at one of the rooms of Sam Condo at Triplit Drive in Sto. NiƱo.
Police recovered the shabu after one of the
occupants of the apartment notified police of a backpack left beside the door
of the comfort room next to her unit.
Casimiro said the teenager who found the black-green
backpack told him a woman was rushing outside the compound when she was about
to verify her find to know where the bag came from.
The occupant then notified the apartment caretaker,
who in turn told the barangay office of Rogelio Miranda about it.
Miranda and operatives of the City Anti-illegal
Drugs Special Operations Task Force found the shabu when they inspected the
bag.
Police said the contents of the bag also included three
disposable lighters, a scissor, digital weighing scale, and P11,050 cash.
Police added the room where the bag came from was
listed to a certain Nurhaifa T. Musa, who rented it only two weeks ago.
Casimiro said the name of Musa, a resident of San
Roque and native of Basilan, was in the watch list of the PDEA.
The suspected shabu and the paraphernalia were sent to
the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for examination.
Police suspected that Musa was trying to hide the
contraband items up the ceiling but it accidentally fell down into the other
unit being occupied by the teenager.
