OZAMIZ CITY--La Salle University (LSU) announces the soft opening of its Out-Patient Department and Birthing Clinic (OPDBC) located in the Heritage Campus.
LSU-OPDBC is part of the university’s community extension program and is fully furnished to do prenatal and normal spontaneous delivery (NSD), care of the newborn, postpartum care, ultrasound and laboratory, ECG, X-ray, outpatient consultations and minor surgery.
LSU-OPDBC is outfitted with equipment donated by LSU and other charitable institutions like the Daughters of Charity.
The facility was launched last November with the attendance of Misamis Occidental Medical Society (MOMS) President Dr. Anabelle Genon, Dr. Benecio Alona and Fr. Regidor Abalde blessing the building.
In LSU-OPDBC, pregnant mothers can avail of medical check-ups and prenatal services while PhilHealth will cover outpatient maternity packages.
Other services are offered free of charge.
The Birthing Clinic is for NSD and if delivery is suspected to have complications, the pregnant mother is then then referred to a hospital.
A mother, after giving birth, may rest for a few hours at the clinic before being allowed to discharge.
At present, the OPD and Birthing Clinic is open from 8:00 in the morning until 5:00 p.m., managed by Sr. Reine Ramos, and Flor Babaylan as OPD nurse.
By January, next year, the clinic will open for 24 hours.
“We aim to render quality and compassionate health care as soon as possible to mothers, newborns and families. We are grateful for the leadership of the President and the speed and diligence of the working parties,” Ramos explained.
