PAGADIAN CITY--"Let me try again?" Defeated congressman Isidoro Real Jr. says he might not run again for any elective post in the government come 2010 given his bitter defeat in the last polls.

By his reckoning, it will be 99.9 percent decision. “But the remaining one percent can be negotiated,” he told MINDANAO MONITOR in a conversation.

Real, a respected political figure in Zamboanga del Sur, then started his political career as a board member and then became congressman for the first district for three years.

He was once elected governor then change track towards the House of Representatives again for another three terms until his miserable defeat against newcomer and businessman Victor Yu.

As one of the highest politician in the province, he was the chair of the dominant Lakas-CMD party complete with the machinery he can muster for a comeback.

But will he really?

“It is sad to say that I am not financially stable these days. I am happy with my life as a citizen, a businessman—free from pressures,” he quipped.

With the 2010 elections still 13 months ahead and some wannabes, former party mates, who are now itching to run for their desired posts, Real says he can’t avoid being amused.

“I can help them (his partymates) look for financial support, but I will not run,” was his last words to this paper.
